Case 1: A 42 year old female lawyer

Case Synopsis

A 42-year-old female lawyer enters your hospital with the following complaints/characteristics:

  • 15 min central burning chest discomfort
  • no relief with antacids; no recurrence
  • prior hypertension treated with ACE inhibitors; no other medications
  • ECG: T-wave inversion in leads I & AVL (otherwise normal); no voltage criteria for LVH
  • CKMB & troponin negative 3 hours after pain
  • Echo: LV function normal; mild LVH & minor mitral valve prolapse
